I'm fond of eating the usual siopao, the one that is white in color and soft in texture with a savory treat inside. I was excited in trying out its toasted variant since it came out. However, the ones that I've tried were not that flavorful and I find its bread to thick and hard (at times).

One afternoon, my husband and I were buying pizza near our place and beside it is Balai Pandesal. As we all know, cooking a pizza takes quite some time, so we decided to eat something else first from Balai Pandesal. Out of my curiosity, I chose to try their toasted siopao, since it's smaller than the regular size of a usual toasted siopao. I thought that it might tastes different, and I was right indeed!

It was the best tasting toasted siopao that I have ever tried so far. I liked how its bread is not too thick and hard at all, plus its savory filling. I personally liked its Bola-bola variant than their Asado ones. It costs around 9 pesos each at that time.

Aside from their toasted siopao, Balai Pandesal also offers other variants like (of course) pandesal, cold beverages (juice, softdrinks, bottled water), spreads (tons of choices), pizza (yes, they cater that too), mamon, egg pies, loaves of bread, and a whole lot of bread varieties.

(There wasn't a lot here from the photo above, because this was taken early in the morning, our second visit.)

On our second visit there, I was a bit disappointed because the Bola-bola that I ordered didn't have salted egg in it, unlike the first ones that I've tried.
