Have you ever been judged because of your looks? Or rejected because your skin wasn’t perfect? The 4 women you are about to meet experienced negativity that have impacted their lives in a lot of ways simply because of a skin condition — acne.

We see it every day, a lot of us have had acne at some point in our lives, but for these women, it’s the source of an undying insecurity, causing them pain that goes beyond skin deep, scarring not only their faces, but also their self-esteem.

And in a society where looks and aesthetic is very influential, the fight for respect and equality is a lifelong struggle for people with pimples. But that fight is a fight that Maxi-Peel is unwilling to give up. The brand’s mission is to amplify the voices of those who have been misjudged, ridiculed, and discriminated because of their acne through their newest campaign — “'Wag Mong Isuko ang Laban” (Don’t Give Up the Fight).

Maxi-Peel puts their brand on the line with a documentary campaign that follows 4 women from different walks of life in a 60-day journey with Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Solutions, capturing real progress, with real results in real time. The campaign begins with a heart-wrenching 60-second testimonial video of these 4 women telling everyone what society tells them every day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Y2RbkvDD4).

“Alam mo Kata, mas maganda ka sana kung kasing kinis ng legs mo yung mukha mo.” Kata San Mateo, a digital marketing head and an aspiring artist, recalls a painful moment during her acne breakout. Teary-eyed, she continues, “Siyempre tatawa-tawa lang ako pero sa loob loob ko, sobra na.”

“Bakit siya ‘yung napiling host, eh ang dami niyang pimples?” Andrea Roces, a retail manager and an active humanitarian says pimples have affected her work and her credibility, damaging her self-esteem and self-belief, “The confidence I’ve built for many years, it all goes away.”

“Honestly, lately hindi ako lumalabas ng bahay. There’s this misconception na ‘pag ma-pimple ka, madumi ka kaya sometimes I feel hopeless.” A former special education teacher, now a full-time mom, Angeline Carandang powers through the negativity, despite an overwhelming feeling of insecurity, “Behind this face, I can be a great mom… matatapos din ‘to, ngayon lang ‘to.”

“Nakulam ka ba… Naagnas ka na” Joepy Libo-on, a cum laude graduate who is now working as a marketing manager, still remembers some of the most painful things people have told her. “Before n’ung sobrang lala talaga ng pimples ko, there was a time na sobrang bumaba ng self-esteem ko.”

Through real stories from real people, Maxi-Peel aims to open our eyes and minds to the truth behind acne. That removing pimples is not just about being beautiful, or achieving smoother skin, or to gain more followers, those are just the aesthetic effects. The real purpose of the brand is to help Filipinos treat and cure an actual skin condition, boost their self-confidence, revive their self-belief, and empower them to have a fighting chance against prejudice and discrimination.

This fight isn’t just about the face, this fight is about facing challenges head on, and acknowledging that it’s only just a phase. Never quitting, never stopping. To all Filipino women out there who have lost their confidence, hope is not lost. You can get past this, in your fight against acne and all its inherent negativity, “Wag Mong Isuko Ang Laban”.

Always ready to lend a helping hand to mothers, Mega Prime held the third installment of its highly anticipated Prime Mom Club Workshop last April 13th from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in Mandaluyong. The workshop showcased Mega Prime's strong commitment to be a steady partner of moms, inside and outside the kitchen.

The third Prime Mom Club workshop aimed to let moms hear about other moms' experiences on how they make activities extra fun and educational for their children. We, the participants, were treated to a cooking demo, trial workshops, and fun talks by Prime Mom Club's panel of mom experts.

Joining the panel facilitated by pre-school teacher and personality Celine Cornejo are bloggers and businesswomen Ginger Arboleda and Denise Rayala, and celebrity Chef Rosebud Benitez-Velasco. Mega Prime's invited panelists came from different backgrounds and have different interests, but are all passionate about being mothers. The panelists shared tips on how to find fun and educational activities that families can enjoy. They also talked about their favorite recipes to whip up for their families.

The talks were followed by a short workshop for the moms, first about the importance of playing in the development of children facilitated by Teacher Celine, a preschool teacher and kiddie events host. Her advocacy is to teach learning through play to parents and kids, which she demonstrated through an interactive storytelling session and a music and movement activity.

After the insightful sessions, an interactive cooking workshop by the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) gave us the opportunity to bond and learn how to prepare recipes with the kids. During this activity, we learned how to make Overnight Oats and Mocha Jelly with Mega Prime's products, namely the Tropical Fruit Cocktail and Nata de Coco variety using kitchenware from the official partner, Masflex.

To make this activity possible, Mega Prime also partnered with companies that share a passion for helping moms.

Priceless moments were captured by NicePrint photographers that roamed around the venue and took beautiful photos of us as we bonded with our kids over the activities prepared by Mega Prime.

Did you know Australian table grapes can be eaten straight from the bunch? There's no need to peel or de-seed, just simply rinse before eating and enjoy its taste. This means grapes are the perfect addition to kids lunchboxes or go-to snack at work to re-energize and hydrate active bodies, which is especially helpful when you live a busy lifestyle.

Grapes are a natural super-food and adding a serving to your daily diet will give you a much needed antioxidant boost. Grapes are packed full of phytonutrients including polyphenols, anthocyanin, and resveratrol, which contribute to the protection to eye health and heart disease. Aussie grapes are particularly good for parents and grandparents as they are low GI food which helps stabilize blood glucose levels after a meal. As grapes contains 80 percent water and plenty of fiber, they also contribute to body hydration and help keep your gut healthy.

To taste the difference, head down to participating supermarkets including Rustan's, Shopwise, Wellcome, S&R, Robinson's and other major supermarkets and enjoy seasonal red, black or green grape sensations. Guaranteed that these much-loved Australian fruits will be perfectly fresh and sweet.

In this day and age, us parents are commonly letting our kids to play and watch on their gadgets. It’s a win-win situation for both of us, because we can finish chores and rest (for a bit), while the gadgets keeps them busy.

Even though there may be benefits on this kind of scenario, we should still keep in mind that physical activity, reading and other more 'traditional' activities continue to play a very important part in children's development. So from time to time, we should allot some time to bond with our kids.

Last March 24, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, we took the opportunity to join Johnson’s Baby’s event: Play Days 2019: Sa Laro Natututo.

With their goal to make playtime more meaningful, they started their Play Days program last 2012.

“We have noticed that gadget time has replaced play time for a lot of parents and kids. However, it is actually during play time that children build many foundational life skills they need. We want to bring the fun into learning with an event that teaches parents how play time can be enjoyable and educational as well. We also made sure to give them various tips that they can do from the comfort of their own homes, so the fun does not stop with the event.” – Senior Brand Manager for Johnson’s Baby, Alde Po.

Here are the glimpse of the activities they have prepared:

Pink Showdance Zone

Yellow Imagiland

Flower Zone

Blue Think Tub

These four zones highlighted  how a child can learn different skills like problem-solving, self-expression, communication and flexibility. As a result of a leveled-up play day, Johnson's incorporated their Johnson's Baby Powder Blooms, Johnson's most fragrant powder that will be every parents' hero. It can keep our little ones fresh for up to 8 hours as they play. Johnson's Baby Powder Blooms along with Johnson's Shiny Drops Shampoo levels up the fragrance for a long lasting, refreshing no tears play day!

#FritzieBear lovin' her Johnson's Baby goodies :)

Being the leader in baby care and as a company that understands the needs of parents in giving the best care for babies and kids, these Johnson's Baby products ensure the freshness of our kids in their need to play outdoors while keeping them protected from any yucky odors and sticky inconveniences that come with their daily adventures.

Johnson's Play Days Sa Laro Natututo is a call for all of us parents to recognize the importance of our little ones to be outside experiencing life actively instead of being confined to a world they only see through any digital screen. Active play allows our children to learn firsthand about the ever changing world and gives them the opportunity to have a multi-sensory understanding of the beautiful planet we live in.

Let's join Johnson's in this movement and see how free, active play will change our little ones and help them become the person we always dreamed for them to be.

Johnson's Baby Active Kids range are available in all leading supermarkets, drug stores and department stores nationwide.
