  2. keep your distance, 1 metro dapat -- mala-mala mula braso hanggang daliri

These are (from left) Pondong Batangan Community Foundation’s Executive Director, Fr. Manny Guazon, Anihan Technical School’s, Senen Olmos and Jollibee Group Foundation’s Mikee Garcia.

Mang Inasal launched its participation in the ACE Scholarship Program for Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) Operations of Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF). This was part of the recent inauguration of Mang Inasal’s milestone 600th Store in Lipa, Batangas,
The ACE QSR program seeks to give underprivileged youth from Lipa the chance to develop the skills they need to be gainfully employed in the QSR industry.
Through the network of Pondong Batangan Community Foundation, Inc. in the Archdiocese of Lipa, four scholars from Lipa will be selected and join a class of students who will undertake a QSR Technical-Vocational Course in Anihan Technical School in Calamba. This includes six months of in-school instruction and six months of on-the-job training. Here, the scholars will learn the rudiments of food preparation and food service. They will earn three TESDA certificates/qualifications at the end of the Program.
Being considered for the scholarship are single women aged 18 – 21, senior high school graduate with at least an 80% scholastic average, coming from a household with a combined family income of P200,000 or less, and willing to study and stay in Calamba City, Laguna for one year.
The scholars supported by MI will begin in June 2020 and their program will run for a year.
“As Mang Inasal grows as an enterprise, it also wants to do its share in building strong host communities whose residents are provided the chance to become more productive members of society. This is the least we can do to reciprocate the support we have been getting from our communities,” said Jojo Subido, MI Business Head.

Nitro 7 Coffee & Tea Bar, is the first in the Philippines to offer nitrogen-infused coffee and tea products. After brewing the coffee for 18 hours in cold temperature, they infuse it with nitrogen and serve it via tap like draft beer.

While their technique requires a considerable amount of effort and time, it however, yields an amazing cold coffee that is creamy without the milk and sweet without the sugar. It also has a full-bodied flavor with very low acidity. This makes their drinks a healthier alternative to frappes and milk teas that are widely available in the market.

Last September 22, 2019, I joined a Foodie Meet-Up at Nitro 7 Coffee & Tea Bar at SM Center Pasig (SM Hypermarket near Tiendesitas). I was very eager to attend this event as I've already tried (and fell in love with) their Nitro Coffee, and having the chance to try their other offerings in their menu,  being able to get decent shots of it, and sharing it through my blog excites me.

Currently, Nitro 7 Coffee & Tea Bar already has 17 branches available to serve you. The ones that I've already visited and are accessible to me are in SM Megamall, SM Center Pasig, and The Fort Strip. So far, my favorite pair among the variety of their selections are:

Hazelnut Caramel Mocha

Fudge Brownies

Currently, Nitro 7 Coffee & Tea Bar serves not just coffees and sweets, but also other drinks and food choices.

During the foodie meet-up, I've tried their Toffee Hazelnut Nitro Cold Brew Coffee, their Pepperoni and Garlic & Cheese Thin Crust Pizza, and all of their Hot Pressed Sandwiches

I like how their coffees are rich in flavor unlike other coffee shops that I've tried which offers Iced Flavored Coffees where you couldn't taste the flavor that was added. I tried ordering their Nitro Cold Brew Coffees in their different branches (SM Megamall, SM Center Pasig, and The Fort Strip) and all of them were of the same quality.

Surprisingly, their food menu, goes perfectly well with their coffees as well. At first, I thought that I wouldn't taste or distinguish the flavors of their pizzas, sandwiches, and wraps because of the coffee, but to my surprise, I was able to enjoy them with the coffee.

My instant favorites among what they served us that day were the Garlic & Cheese Thin Crust Pizza, Corned Beef and Tuna & Cheese Hot Pressed Sandwich, and their Frank N' Cheese Wrap N' Roll.

And since there is a branch near where I work, I brought along my office mate, and it did not disappoint. She loved their coffee, sandwiches and cakes!

Nitro 7's Coffee is really the go-to coffee shop for coffee lovers like me who suffers from a condition called Acid Reflux. Although, this can be enjoyed by everyone as well.

Zomato recently announced that it is offering 26 weeks of paid parental leave to all its employees globally—yes, including new fathers as well. This initiative will also apply to surrogate, adoptive parents, as well as same-sex parents across all operational countries, including the Philippines. This revolutionary move encourages new parents to spend more time with their newborns.

In countries where government-mandated leave policy is more than 26 weeks, Zomato will be following the local regulations, offering the same increased number of weeks to both mothers and fathers. Along with the leave, Zomato will also offer a $1,000 endowment per child to the parents working with the company. All the employees who welcomed a child six months prior to this policy change will also enjoy the new benefits.

Zomato’s CEO, Deepinder Goyal, announced that one core issue that leads to fewer women leaders in organizations, the community, and the nation is the lack of universal paid parental leave. It is hard for women to lead a healthy family life and focus on their careers at the same time, leading to a lot of women leaving their jobs or putting their careers on the back burner. The lack of diversity stems from an unequal leave policy for men and women when they welcome their children to this world. “There won't be even an iota of difference in parental leave policy for men and women at Zomato going forward," said Deepinder in a blog post.

This new policy by Zomato raises the bar and aims to create a more unified view towards primary caregiving—and one that no longer alienates half of the company’s workforce. Deepinder urges more governments and companies to follow the example set by Nordic countries, which encourages both parents to assume equal responsibility. "We also wish that governments across the world institutionalized paid parental leave," he said. "We will never have truly gender-neutral organizations unless we have gender-neutral communities and gender-neutral nations."

Once again, awesome news, Zomato!
